Commissions.

I am currently working on one commission.
A ‘double’ portrait in a Gothic style.
I will post this on my ‘work in progress’ pages at the appropriate time.

I am happy to accept commissions, as long as you are happy with the process.

Firstly, please be aware that this will not be an instant process, it takes time to create a painting, so be prepared for a 3 to 6 month wait before you see a finished painting.
It may be quicker, depending on many factors.

If you are contemplating commissioning a painting from me, I assume this is because you like my style of painting, and want something similar. Please don’t ask me to paint a landscape!

I always work from photographs, and I prefer to take my own, after we have discussed the layout, composition etc. Obviously this is not always going to be practical, depending upon travel distances etc. so we may have to work out the details by email.

The more complex the subject, background, clothing, details, the more difficult it is, and will take longer and cost more than say a simple portrait or nude on a plain or graded background, so please bear this in mind.

Also give some thought about where your painting will hang and who may see it, as this can influence your decisions. (Do you really want a nude painting of yourself in your lounge? or would an appropriate wisp of cloth be better?) There are other considerations to make. However I am prepared to paint whatever you like (within reason) it’s up to you what you do with the picture when it’s yours, however as is usual I reserve the Copyright, and reproduction rights, (so that I can show it on this website for instance), although if the painting is very personal, we can come to an agreement on this.

Prices start from around £375 and a deposit is required. If for some reason I cannot complete the painting, all monies will refunded. To avoid disappointment you will get regular updates on progress, and will be able to influence the finished product to some extent.
